THE BIGGER AND BETTER BALL HAS ARRIVED!

Dear All

The second annual Coffee4Kids Charity Ball will be held on Friday March 19 at the WatervieW Convention Centre at Bicentennial Park in Sydney.

Following on from the success of last year’s event, which raised over $20,000, this year’s Ball is again aiming to raise funds for the Coffee4Kids Foundation and the Foundation’s principal beneficiary, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

This will be a great event for up to 600 guests and as Goodwill Ambassador for Coffee4Kids I’d like to extend an invitation to everyone to come along and help support the Foundation at its signature event.

The night will include entertainment by comedian Anh Do, performances by The Enormous Horns, a charity auction plus raffle prizes.

Tickets are only $95 so why not book a table for 10 with your brigade, work mates or a group of your friends!

This will be a great night, raising funds for two very worthwhile and deserving groups and an opportunity to have some fun, while we give something back to the community.

Hope I see you there.

The Coffee for Kids Foundation Christmas Party

2008 Christmas celebrationOn Wednesday 17 December 2008 the Coffee for Kids Foundation hosted a Christmas Party for the RFS Headquarters Staff.

The Foundation approached a number of local businesses for support towards the function and were delighted with the response.

Woolworths, Sara-Lee Cakes, Coca Cola and Moree Meats contributed to the success of the day by discounting or providing gift cards for purchases and all agreed that the luncheon was a happy time for all those present.

We are also happy to report that over $400 was raised to go into the funds to be distributed to various charities by the Foundation in the coming year.During the official part of the day, Ron Anderson presented the toys donated by RFS staff to Julie Munley from The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Julie thanked everyone and explained that without assistance from people such as those at the RFS, Christmas for many families would not be the happy and fun time that we all hope for.

2008 Christmas celebrationCoffee for Kids and the RFS continue to brighten the lives of many of the patients and their families of CHW. Mark Crosweller also presented a cheque for over $34,000 to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, by any account a wonderful effort by the generous donations of the Staff and Volunteers of the RFS to The Coffee for Kids Foundation.

Well done to everyone that enables the Foundation to continue to provide not only CHW but various other Children's Charities with much needed funds to continue their great work.

RFS Members run from Ridge to Bridge for Children's Charity

Ridge to BridgeRFS Members run from Ridge to Bridge for Children's Charity On Sunday 20th July, Cowan Rural Fire Brigade along with members of other NSW Rural Fire Service Brigades from the Hornsby/Ku-ring-gai District participated in the inaugural "Ridge to Bridge" charity fun run on Sunday. The event was held as a fund raiser for the RFS charity Coffee4Kids, established to make a real difference to the health, safety and well being of children, particularly in the areas of child protection, child homelessness, paediatric intensive care and oncology through the principle beneficiary, The Children's Hospital Westmead.

The 44 competitors set off from Cowan Fire Station and made their way to Brooklyn Fire Station via the picturesque Great North Walk and fire trail network. Finishers were greeted with a BBQ lunch supplied by the RFS's Hornsby/Kur-ring-gai Catering Brigade. Cowan Brigade Captain Grahame Horne said "a great day was had by all competitors, and more importantly we raised over $600 for the Coffee4Kids charity"

Assistant Commissioner Mark Crosweller, the Coffee4Kids founder and chairman, presented the trophies to the winning team from Cowan Brigade, and runners up from Galston Brigade along with thanking Capt Grahame Horne and his team for their organisation of a successful event. "It’s through events such as these and the ongoing generosity and support of the members of the RFS Brigades involved that much needed funds are raised for Coffee4Kids and ultimately for the areas of children's wellbeing that the charity supports" said Asst Commissioner Crosweller.

Cowan Brigade are planning to make this an annual event, and looking forward to a bigger and better run from Ridge to Bridge next year.
